Fishing: Hollis Q. Lathem Reservoir
November 5, 2016 @ 8:30 am - 1:00 pm$5
Description: We’ll meet at the beautiful, 334 acre Hollis Q. Lathem Reservoir (http://ccwsa.com/reservoir/). From the website: “In 2000 the reservoir was stocked with Bluegill, Shellcracker, Largemouth bass, and Channel catfish. Other species of fish are present include Spotted bass, Redeye, Speckled catfish, and Crappie which were not part of the initial stocking program.” A good overview of bass fishing at the reservoir from 2006 is online http://www.gon.com/fishing/a-bass-fishing-tour-of-lathem-reservoir.
Start Time: 8:30 AM
Location: 5436 Cowart Road in Dawsonville, GA 30534
Lunch: Want to share your fish stories? Lunch afterwards at Amos’ BBQ (http://amosbbq.com/, 697 Hightower Trail, Ball Ground, GA 30107). It’s about 7 miles/10 minutes south of the reservoir as you head back to the Marietta/Roswell area.
Rules: Bring your canoe, kayak or boat (electric motors are ok, but no boats with gas motors, see rules: http://ccwsa.com/reservoir/reservoir-rules/) and your fishing gear. We’ll meet at the reservoir around 8:30 and fish until about 11:30 (hours are 8:00 – 5:00 in November if you want to arrive earlier or stay later). Shore fishing is possible but limited to a small stretch of waterfront near the parking lot. You will need a freshwater fishing license (available online at http://www.georgiawildlife.com/licenses-permits-passes, $9/year, $16/2 years for residents).
